Steer the wheel

It’s time to let it go,
Because the wind that blows,
Goes in one direction,
To never look back again,
Leaving you still,
In your position,
Do you try to catch it?
Do you try to match it?
You just let it blow,
And take a part of it with you,
Maybe to keep it safe,
Or give it all away,
So stop cursing each breath you take,
So stop crying over the wounds that are healed,
Just sit back in the front seat,
It’s been a while,
Since you steered the wheel.

This journey started with a small cry,
But each step you took made you try,
All the new things that you’ve learned,
All these memories that are dying to be told,
So take a step back,
Realise it’s your time,
Get in the front seat,
This is your spaceship,
It doesn’t come with a manual,
You won’t know until you try,
Once in a while its not bad to kneel,
Oh its been a while,
Since you steered the wheel.

The speed won’t be constant,
There will be ups and downs,
Oh no there won’t be no signals,
You just gotta know where you wanna go,
But sometimes when the wheel won’t move,
And sometimes when there’s a big storm stopping you from moving on,
Just stop and breath,
It’s nothing you can’t solve,
Just a few tools and help is all that you’ll need,
Then you can get in the front seat,
This time even though it’s been a while,
You can just steer the wheel.

There’s no one you can blame,
When you are the one,
Who directed each step,
There’s no one you can credit,
For the good deeds that you’ve done,
Because it’s all you,
All your choices,
So maybe it’s been a while,
But you know you gotta get into that front seat,
So that you can steer the wheel.

Sweet and Sour

You were my best friend when we were kids,
Even your friends were mine,
Blame it on my awkwardness,
But I could never make friends easily as you could,
I always adored that about you,
We have had our share of fights,
Some were hard,
And left us both frustrated,
But we always made up,
I guess that’s a ‘sibling thing’,
I hope it stays forever,
Forever for us to cherish.

You taught me all the cool things,
To watch anime and how to throw a ball,
You taught me how to punch,
And even punched me when I was small,
You introduced me to Akon and Eminem,
The WWE fights we watched together,
You did the perfect impression of Boogie Man,
That always made me crack up,
Remember the Summer noons we spent playing Carrom,
Lying on the cool floor covered with blankets,
That was our Summertime memories,
Geez we need to do it again,
I like how you blast Metallica in the speakers when we are home,
These small things only made me like and hate you at the same time,
The sweet and sour relation we still share to this day,
I’ll cherish it forever.

You never let me change the channel when you watched TV,
Smoke will come out of my ears,
As I stomped my way to Mother,
Only to be told to be the bigger guy,
You’ll always find your way,
Whenever I have a problem,
You are my guy,
Who gives me the solution,
Before going to anyone,
I come to you,
I like making you proud,
All my friends have younger siblings,
But I’m proud to have you,
Being the elder one,
You didn’t have anyone,
Like I have you,
But you turned out just fine,
And made us proud,
Now you’re working,
We meet once in a few months,
When a few years ago we couldn’t spend a few days apart,
Ah, the sibling love we had,
When did we grow up?
Time went too fast for us to cherish every moment,
But there are memories still in our heart,
Nothing can erase them,
Because this sweet and sour relation that we share to this day,
I know I’ll cherish it forever.

Writer’s note: Wishing my brother a very Happy Birthday! I hope this little something makes your day!
And I also hope I let all you guys remember your siblings after reading this! If you did, don’t forget to let your sibling know you love them!

I Promise

You’ve heard all these promises before,
They seem to crack to the core,
But this time the case won’t be the same,
I cross my heart on this,
May I never be as them,
So here I am,
Making another promise to you,
That even when the stars stop shinning,
I’ll be your light,
When the world breaks your heart,
I’ll pick it up,
Wipe it off with my half sleeve,
And give it back to you,
When everything keeps falling on you,
I’ll carve an umbrella from rock,
When you can’t sleep at night,
I’ll be by your side,
Telling you stories of two friends who fight,
And when you seem to fall short of breath,
I’ll bring you an oxygen cylinder,
When you fall,
I’ll pick you up,
Dust you off,
Right after I finish laughing,
When you are hungry,
I’ll give you the last bite of my sandwich,
Not the first,
Because you know I’ll be hungry too,
When you fail,
I’ll be right beside you,
As we cry together on our unacceptable marks,
When you cry,
I’ll wipe off your tears,
Right after I click a picture of you,
When you smile,
I’ll smile with you,
And most of all,
I promise,
When you need me,
I’ll be right there for you,
Because these are not a promises of a lover,
These are from a friend,
Who can’t watch you fade away,
And who’ll try the best,
To keep them,
So I cross my heart once again,
And make a promise that stays,
For as long as we are here,
I hope it lasts.
