I love you

I’ve always had trouble making friends,
I was too shy and rude I guess,
There weren’t a lot I could trust,
Except you,
I can always trust you,
I know you’ll welcome me with open arms,
Every time I fall,
You’ll pick me up and help me stand on my feet,
You taught me how to be me.
I’m me because of you.
And for that I love you.

Mummy or Aai,
I never called you Mom,
Really don’t know why,
You are my ‘Mummy’ when I need you,
My ‘Aai’ when I want to acknowledge my language,
My ‘Mumme’ when I’m desperate,
But you’ll always be my mother.
And for that I love you.

We quarrel, we fight,
But you’re the glue that holds us together,
You’re the only person in this world who can never hate me,
Who can never hurt me intentionally,
And for that I love you.

People say I look like you,
I have your eyes,
Your passion,
Your heart,
And for that I love you.

When its me who’s sick,
You’re the one losing her sleep,
When it’s me doing my work late night,
You’re the one who’s in the kitchen making me coffee,
When its me feeling low,
You’re the one who’s hurting,
You always took our pain away,
And for that I love you.

We’ve been through the worst together,
We’ve been through the best together,
And I know I’m not the ideal daughter you wanted,
But you’ve put up with me till now,
And for that I love you.

Years are passing by,
I’m growing,
And so are you,
The wrinkles on your face are showing,
You were a beauty in your days,
And you still are, you’ll always be,
You sacrificed a lot for us,
It might have been hard,
But you did it anyways,
And for that I love you.

You taught us right and wrong,
You heard my first words,
Saw me take my first steps,
Also saw me fall later,
We laughed for ages over silly things,
Our family has always been the weird one,
But we all stick together,
Because of efforts from everyone,
Especially yours,
And for that I love you.

It’s your birthday today,
Another year of your life gone,
I just hope you stay here for as long as I live,
Perhaps I’m being stupid,
But that’s what I wish for,
I hope you’re proud of us,
No matter what I say to you,
You should always remember,
I love you.

Writer’s note :- It’s my Mother’s birthday today. Just a small something from me to her.

Keep smiling 🙂
