Go Along

Where in the darkness will you set your foot on,
Your breath will be held,
And your dreams will be gone,
If the past is what hurt you,
Will your voice still be strong?
Just go along darling, just go along.

Watching where you’re going,
Setting your foot forward,
Searching for the light,
Trying to fight,
Will it be worth it when you’re gone?
Just go along darling, just go along.

Every day’s a struggle,
Every night seems long,
Every breath gets heavier,
Every sadness seems a song,
But where will it all go when you’ll be gone?
Just go along darling, just go along.

The tears on your pillow,
The late night thoughts,
The weakening emptiness,
The smiles getting lost,
Where will the world be if you’re gone?
Just go along darling, just go along.

Your paths getting blocked,
Your memories getting locked,
If the future is what you’re worried about,
What will be of your present, if you’re gone?
Just go along darling, just go along.

There’s nothing to see if you don’t have eyes,
There’s nothing to hear without these ears,
So what will be there to live, if there’s no ‘you’,
Just go along darling, just go along.
Everything will be fine,
If you just go along.

The nights will be calm,
The dreams will be good again,
The thoughts won’t be saddening,
The stars will shine again,
You’ll know there’s nothing left if you’ll be gone,
So you’ll go along darling, just go along.

Struggle

Each step,
Every turn,
Each corner,
Every burn,
Each fear,
Every struggle,
Makes us what we want to be,

Every struggle seems real,
Every sweat seems sweet,
Every voice seems louder,
Every step seems huge,
It may seem longer today,
It may seem like it never ends,
But the end is near,
Perhaps not round the corner,
But it’s closer than it was yesterday,
Closer than you last saw it,
So don’t stop the struggle.

Yes it’s hard,
It needs to be,
Yes it’s hurting,
It has to be,
But you can’t stop now,
You’ve already come so far,
You can’t turn now,
It’s a one way road,
If you don’t move,
You won’t notice your chains,
Holding you down,
If you don’t struggle,
There will be no passion,
If it was easier,
Everyone could do it,
But its harder,
And that’ll make you great,
The end is near,
It is closer than it was before,
So don’t stop the struggle.

Remember what made you go on,
Remember what got you started,
The fruit will be sweet,
Oh very sweet.

Some days later when you’ve reached the end,
When you’re at the top,
Admiring the journey,
You’ll be glad you didn’t stop,
Because the end was near,
Perhaps not around the corner,
But it was closer each day,
You shall reap what you sow,
It’s something you’ll know,
Softly you’ll whisper,
Whose in need to hear those words,
Don’t stop the struggle.

Dear Dad,

Dear Dad,
You always tell me ,
How you still remember when I was a toddler,
Running around the house,
Crying, smiling and troubling,
But what I remember is you being my hero,
How you would carry me when I cried,
How you would pick me up when I hugged your legs,
How you were my world when I was small,
Yes I remember it all.

Dear Dad,
You always worked hard to give us all that we wanted,
You would starve yourself to make sure we ate,
You would take us to dinner and luncheons,
Movies were never your thing,
I know it since I was small,
Yes I remember it all.

Dear Dad,
You’re strict,
You’ve certain rules we’ve to follow,
But you never took away our freedom,
We were able to do whatever right things we wanted,
You were our guide, teacher, father,
I remember this since I was small,
Yes I remember it all.

Dear Dad,
You never pressured us to get good grades,
Ones we get, will be ours,
That’s what you say,
Still we always liked to make you proud,
And you always liked to brag about us,
I know it since I was small,
Yes I remember it all.

Dear Dad,
You’re witty,
And I see where I get my sarcasm,
Your silly jokes makes life easy,
And I’m so thankful for that,
Your sense of humour adds spice to things,
Things I’ve known since I was small,
Yes I remember it all.

Dear Dad,
I’m here because of you,
You are my pillar,
Someone whom I can always depend on,
You are special to me,
You always will be,
We don’t say it often,
But I just want you to know,
I’ve always loved you since I was small,
And I still love you, now that I remember it all.

I love you

I’ve always had trouble making friends,
I was too shy and rude I guess,
There weren’t a lot I could trust,
Except you,
I can always trust you,
I know you’ll welcome me with open arms,
Every time I fall,
You’ll pick me up and help me stand on my feet,
You taught me how to be me.
I’m me because of you.
And for that I love you.

Mummy or Aai,
I never called you Mom,
Really don’t know why,
You are my ‘Mummy’ when I need you,
My ‘Aai’ when I want to acknowledge my language,
My ‘Mumme’ when I’m desperate,
But you’ll always be my mother.
And for that I love you.

We quarrel, we fight,
But you’re the glue that holds us together,
You’re the only person in this world who can never hate me,
Who can never hurt me intentionally,
And for that I love you.

People say I look like you,
I have your eyes,
Your passion,
Your heart,
And for that I love you.

When its me who’s sick,
You’re the one losing her sleep,
When it’s me doing my work late night,
You’re the one who’s in the kitchen making me coffee,
When its me feeling low,
You’re the one who’s hurting,
You always took our pain away,
And for that I love you.

We’ve been through the worst together,
We’ve been through the best together,
And I know I’m not the ideal daughter you wanted,
But you’ve put up with me till now,
And for that I love you.

Years are passing by,
I’m growing,
And so are you,
The wrinkles on your face are showing,
You were a beauty in your days,
And you still are, you’ll always be,
You sacrificed a lot for us,
It might have been hard,
But you did it anyways,
And for that I love you.

You taught us right and wrong,
You heard my first words,
Saw me take my first steps,
Also saw me fall later,
We laughed for ages over silly things,
Our family has always been the weird one,
But we all stick together,
Because of efforts from everyone,
Especially yours,
And for that I love you.

It’s your birthday today,
Another year of your life gone,
I just hope you stay here for as long as I live,
Perhaps I’m being stupid,
But that’s what I wish for,
I hope you’re proud of us,
No matter what I say to you,
You should always remember,
I love you.
